[Cockley] Cley was a settlement in Domesday Book, in the hundred of [South] Greenhoe and the county of Norfolk. It had a recorded population of 32 households inputting it in the largest 40% of settlements recorded in Domesday, and is listed under 3 owners in Domesday Book.

The body was discovered near a track leading to Brake Hill Farm, Brandon Road, within Cockley Cley. Combine harvesters were used to clear fields to allow them to be searched.
